IMO there is no advantage to using a Mo/N over a N/mo to solo with.
Why do I say this? The damage output of a necro primary using SS overwhelms the damage dished out by the monk primary using SS. Not to mention a nifty little attribute called soul reaping, which means there is no downtime in between fights waiting on energy regen ( provided you kill fast and effeciently.)
Yes the monk has divine favor. Who needs divine favor with 55 hps really? Mending and breeze should be more then enough to keep yourself healed provided you don't take on more then you can chew. If you think about it a necro can have divine favor too if he/she decides to bring along insidous parasite, parasitic bond, vamp gaze, etc etc. It isn't hard to heal 55 hps when your taking -5 damage always now is it?
Both will work, but farming is all about speed and effeciency. Try it out on your monks what is it going to hurt you? A few worthless skill pts and a few easily obtainable platinum. I'm not here to sell a build to you. I'm just showing you what you can do with it. Do whatever you want, it's all about your playing experience not mine.

Thanks for the correction Jo, that could have been ugly if someone tried that out.
I'm hoping to get some feedback on those trying the build out too. Post your experiences and we'll see if we can fix any problems you are having.

OK i'll go first.
Things are going really well, I can take those trolls outside of Droks no bother, although as my 'cover hex' as nothing there has removes I tend to take Price of failure, so the one with SS on is always missing as well, but still takes the SS damage, so thats about 60-70 damage per attack he takes, although I realise this reduces my SS time i have started to cast Price of failure / Paracitic bond on a non SS enemy.
For some reason the avrican give me a bit of bother there, but im getting the hang of it.
After a few troll runs I decided to hit the UW since I noticed Europe had favour. I went left straight away after throwing up my enchants, saw the aatxs I wanted, and SS agrod and threw up my last enchant, then the next thing I know all my enchants are gone, I assume something desecrated them, but I died seconds later, I found this odd simply because I TABed through all the enemies and cudnt see anything that could do that, nor did I hear / see one comming out of the ground.
oh well,
lol, I suppose I have to perfec tthe build, i've already made back the price of my armour on the trolls, and am halfway for refunding the cost of the Grim Cestra / Villar's which i got eventually, another 20K made and i'll break even.

jamie, you had your enchantments stripped by a dying nightmare. They use Rend Enchantments which does damage to the caster based on how many enchantments are removed. Normally it kills the nightmare so you won't even notice it. You can find out how to avoid them in the "How to..." section of my guide.

I was just wondering how necessary vigorous spirit or guardian was to this build? In my first 20 or so attempts in UW, I have not made it out of the 1st room, and I have found that guardian/SS to be inefficient and slow. I like the idea of being able to draw out the savage slash with VS, but with the 1 sec casting time, I found it didn't work consistantly enough! So the last 5 tries, I have taken Death Nova with me, with a 5 energy cost, a 2 sec casting time, and no recharge, I can consistantly draw out that savage slash and kill alot quicker!! This works very well if you can stack the attaxes properly. I have gotten the farthest the quickest these last few times, but alas have not made it to the smites yet (the last time I got distracted and lost PS on the last 2 aataxes ). So i guess my question is......how well will I fair against smites without Guardian or VS?

There should'nt be a video fo this. Why? Because people will download the video, and just copy what you did, not really learning anything.

Ripchicken67, you will need either one of them to stay alive when you're fighting smites. I would not use Death Nova. Throw Guardian or Vigorous Spirit onto your skill bar and try again.
Garka Dark, you need to use the Dark Bomber build to take down those griffons. It was brought up earlier. Don't ask for the build here, just search for it and you will find it.

Hiding behind ghost
This was an extremly helpful post, thanks alot for the time youve taken to write it and how had i never noticed that coldfire's dont drop ecto is pretty shamefull, i thot i was just unlucky with them.
Just one thing you may want to add to your walkthough guide is that there is a space behind the ghost at the very start of UW wher you can stand and not get hit by aatxe if you get yourself into a bad situation with enregy levels and need to run somwhere.
Again thanks very much for the thread, helped me loads.

Go ahead and try and report back to us if it works better than 55 hp... (not likely)

I am sorry if this is already posted, but do u have to have a Max and Customized Holy damage wand to beat the nightmares before they rend you?
I asked people earlier and most said I culd use other stuff, but I`m still fairly confused.
And BTW nice guide. It answered my 1 billion other questions.

Yes, you have to have a max dmg. customized wand. I don't think holy damage does extra damage vs. nightmares but I've never tried it so I can't back it up. Anyone know?

It does, but necros don't have divine favor, we aren't using smiting, so what are you going to get the wand requirements?
And Kcp, you may not be here to sell me a build, but that's exactly what I wanted you to do.

I was wandering about attributes... although the guide recommends 8 Healing (for +3 Mending / +6 Healing Breeze = 9 regen) and 10 Protection, I'll generally use 9 Healing (for +3 Mending / +7 Healing Breeze = 10 regen) and 9 Protection (1s less on Protective Spirit).
Now admittedly I haven't been in the UW for months, but I wonder about the trade - what is better do you think, 1 extra pip of regen on HB or 1 extra second on PS?
(edit: my position is that I like 10 regen total, not specifically for the UW but in general)

Necro runes are MUCH cheaper, so you'll break even much faster.
